Building Balance and Resilience: Kristine Campbell’s Journey with QwikResponse Restoration & Construction
For Kristine Campbell, restoration isn’t just about fixing buildings—it’s about rebuilding life on your own terms. After 20 years as an independent contractor, Kristine now leads QwikResponse Restoration & Construction with a renewed focus on work-life harmony and intentional success.
Rooted in hard-earned lessons from personal loss and professional challenges, Kristine’s approach blends accountability, grit, and self-care. She’s redefining what it means to thrive in a demanding industry—showing that true success is measured not just by what you build, but by the time you create to enjoy it.
What do you do and who do you serve?
Kristine: I run QwikResponse Restoration & Construction, serving homeowners and businesses in Westlake Village and Thousand Oaks. We specialize in helping clients recover from property damage and handle construction projects with care, speed, and professionalism. My focus is on making the process as smooth and stress-free as possible, so people can get back to their lives without the overwhelm.
What inspired you to start your business or current career path?
Kristine: I’ve been an independent contractor for 20 years, and this industry became my life. What inspired me was a blend of passion for construction and the drive to build something on my own terms. Recently, I transitioned to working within a corporate company for the first time in two decades. That shift challenged me but also pushed me to raise my productivity and awareness of how I work. It’s been a learning curve, but a positive one.
What’s one lesson you’ve learned that’s shaped the way you work?
Kristine: The biggest conflicts and challenges usually bring the biggest reward and lessons. That perspective keeps me grounded when things get tough and helps me grow personally and professionally.
Share a challenge you’ve overcome and how it helped you grow.
Kristine: Switching from being an independent contractor to working for someone else was a major adjustment. I struggled with the confines of corporate life, but I chose to let peer pressure and accountability push me instead of break me. It made me more productive and self-aware, which has been invaluable.
What does success mean to you now, versus what it used to mean?
Kristine: Success used to be about making as much money as possible, even if it meant sacrificing time with family and friends. Now, success means paying my bills comfortably while having enough time and energy to enjoy life. Money can always come later, but time is precious and irreplaceable.
How do you integrate your personal values into your business?
Kristine: I believe in setting boundaries and honoring work-life balance. I don’t feel guilty about saying no when I need to protect my time and energy. Without that balance, you can’t truly be happy or effective in your work or personal life.
Set boundaries and don't feel bad about it! Work life balance is everything. Without it, you will be unhappy, and people will take what you give them until you have nothing left
— Kristine Campbell
How do you nurture your mental and emotional health while pursuing big goals?
Kristine: I keep a regular workout and yoga routine and spend as much time outdoors as possible, away from screens and negativity. Sunlight and movement are my best healers for mental and emotional health.
What lights you up outside of work?
Kristine: Being active with my kids and boyfriend lights me up. We love going to the beach, skiing in winter, climbing, and hiking together. Those moments keep me grounded and joyful.
What’s something about you people might not know—but should?
Kristine: I’m one of six kids and grew up on welfare with divorced parents. I’ve faced significant loss, including my brother and mother passing away within a few years of each other. Choosing happiness every day despite that pain is something I actively practice. It gives me control and self-worth.
If you could go back and tell a past version of yourself one thing, what would it be?
Kristine: Make decisions for you, not based on what others think is good for you. You have to live your life your way.
What are you currently celebrating (big or small)?
Kristine: I’m celebrating the new balance I’ve found between work and life, and the growth I’m experiencing in my professional productivity and personal well-being.
Who are you becoming?
Kristine: I’m becoming a woman who leads with intention and balance—strong yet compassionate, productive yet present. Someone who values time as much as success and knows how to protect both.
